By the 1920s, Florida had become a very popular place for many people to settle down. Eventually the city of Kissimmee had grown by almost 3,000 people in that decade alone. Soon, the cattle industry was a very common one within the area, bringing even more people to the city to live and work. Over the next few decades, the population growth of Kissimmee was fairly stead, but in 1971 when nearby Walt Disney World was created, it grew by a staggering rate: double! This happened again in the 1980s when it doubled again due to Disney's well reception. Today, Kissimmee is a beautiful place where many people live and visit. The historic area of downtown Kissimmee is a popular area with a lot of culture, shopping, and dining. A flea and farmer's market is open there every Thursday. When visiting Kissimmee, be sure to get a nice mix of history and beauty at the Historic Boc Sanctuary. This beautiful garden hosts a lovely bell tower as well as a museum and the beautiful Pinewood Estate. There is a lot to see on the grounds and a lot of gorgeous landscapes to take in. While in town, check out a play or musical at the Osceola Center for the Arts. There are also many wonderful hot air balloon companies in Kissimmee, all willing to give you a bird's eye view of the beautiful area. Skyscapes Balloon Tours is just one example.
If you're visiting Kissimmee for the nightlife, you have to check out Sun on the Beach, one of the area's most popular nightclubs. Of course, there are plenty of other bars and nightclubs at Kissimmee to choose from as well. For the kids, don't forget places like Congo River Golf, a really cool miniature golf course, and Full Speed Race and Golf which combines an 18 hole indoor racing themed golf course with awesome NASCAR and other racecar simulators.
